In 2022, I had the opportunity to follow and film Iman Whitfield. A first-time runner challenged by ELLE magazine and New Balance to take on the New York City Marathon.

With little time and no prior running experience, she dove into the challenge and began training with determination. I documented her journey from the early sessions in Amsterdam all the way to race day in New York, an unforgettable experience.

As both director and cinematographer, I was given full creative freedom to shape the visual story in my own style. Filming in New York came with its own set of challenges, especially with limited access to certain areas. But it pushed me to be resourceful and adapt quickly.

Looking back, it was one of those projects that stays with you, a story of grit, growth, and going the distance.
